Many members of the Sea for Society consortium came together during the summer at La Maison des Oceáns, Paris for the 5th SFS Consortium Meeting.
Representatives were present from Nausicaá (France), EurOcean (International), Ecsite (Belgium), IUCN (International), Institute of Marine Research (Norway), Marine Institute (Ireland), AquaTT (Ireland), IEO-Spanish Institute of Oceanography (Spain), Acquario de Genova (Italy), MNHN Paris (France), Ciência Viva (Portugal), Opixido (France), Ifremer (France), European Business Network (Belgium), and World Ocean Network (International).
Participants related their experiences during the Sea for Society Mobilization Phase, recounting successes from events such as science festivals, open days, ocean literacy workshops, exhibitions, Blue Talks, Blue Cafés, conferences, games, competitions, and more. Those present were left in no doubt that the SFS Mobilization Phase has been as diverse and entertaining as it has been effective in spreading the word about the importance of the Ocean to all levels of society.
Plans were also laid for the upcoming Blue Society Intergroup Event at the European Parliament in November 2015. More news of this event will follow shortly, so watch this space...
