Blue Society Expert Group met in Brussels last week
The second meeting of the Blue Society Expert Group towards the definition of the Blue Society concept took place on March 13th 2014.

Following the successful 1st Blue Society Expert Group meeting on September 23rd 2013 the Group has been quite active under the coordination of IUCN, WP5 Leader. Last March 13th the Group met for its 2nd meeting in order to continue discussing ideas for the definition of the Blue Society concept.

A total of 13 high level participants from the Blue Society Expert Group, the Blue Society Steering Committee Group (Nausicaá, EurOcean, EBNIUCN) and the WP2 Leader ECSITE were present at the meeting allowing plenty of discussion, as was the case of the first meeting. A preliminary overview of the results of the Sea for Society consultations under analysis, expected to be finalized at the end of April 2014, given by the WP2 Leader also contributed to the high level discussion. The Group also gave advice on the first ideas for the mobilization action plan presented at the meeting by the WP4 Leader EBN.

The objectives of the 2nd Blue Society Expert Group meeting, chaired by François Simard, Deputy Director and Senior Advisor for Fisheries IUCN Global Marine and Polar Programme, were achieved. The first final elements to be included on the Blue Society concept were agreed, leading to a clearer direction concerning the definition of the concept.
